IPTA : UniKL Hosted the 6th International Conference on Ubiquitous Information Management and Communication (ICUIMC) 2012

Malaysian Institute of Information Technology, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (MIIT, UniKL City Campus) auspiciously hosted the esteemed 6th International Conference on Ubiquitous Information Management and Communication (ICUIMC) 2012 held at Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa from 20 till 22 February, 2012.

This annual international conference jointly hosted by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and Sungkyunkwan University Korea (SKKU) was organised with the aim to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information in promoting new visionary approaches and interdisciplinary researches in various facets of information management and communication technologies appropriate for ubiquitous computing and application environments.

The conference anticipated 456 submissions from countries worldwide, selected 131 papers to be presented at the conference. As the review process was competitive and rigorous, papers presented were intellectually distinguished not only in novel ideas, new results and techniques but also stimulate future research activities in the area of information management and communication technologies.

The three day conference included two outstanding keynote speeches, 14 presentation sessions and three poster sessions. The two world-renowned keynote speakers were, Prof. Sajal K. Das, Director, Centre for Research in Wireless Mobility and Networking (CReWMaN), University of Texas, Arlington, USA and Prof. Abdullah Mohd Zin from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

In conjunction with the conference, UniKL also hosted a welcoming reception dinner at Plam Garden Hotel Putrajaya to celebrate the participants and foster networking opportunities for researchers. UniKL Chairman, Y.B. Datuk Dr. Adham Baba and UniKL President/CEO, Prof. Dato' Dr. Abdul Hakim Juri were present at the welcoming reception. Besides cultivating opportunities for collaborative research, the conference also fostered both research excellence and recreational content. ICUIMC 2012 also co-hosted by Kyung Hee University, Kyungwon University, Ajou University and Yonsei University Korea.
